On May 15, 1955, Vista Assembly of God began with thirteen people at the Women's Club on Eucalyptus in Vista under the leadership of Rev. Harry Jones.

In October, 1960, the church moved into a building they constructed themselves on Indian Rock Road. In September, 1963, with a vision to provide quality Christian education for the children of our community, the church established Vista Christian School. In 1975 the church established Vista Christian Preschool. The preschool currently provides early childhood training in a safe, secure environment for children ages two through five.

 

North Melrose Drive (1978-Today)

In 1978 the church and schools moved into the present facility on North Melrose Drive. Since being located at this site, the church has added the back building for more office and classroom space. In March, 1993, Pastor Steve came to serve as Senior Pastor with Liz and their two young daughters.

 
Master Plan for Melrose property.

 

In 1999, the church established a master plan for their property on Melrose that involved millions of dollars of re-building and maximizing the use of their land.

In 2002 the church celebrated the Grand Opening of its new South Wing (18,000 square feet) and the remodeling of the back building, West Wing (6,500 square feet) which cost about 3 million dollars.

The Master plan still includes 30,000 square feet of building that will include:

New Fellowship hall with kitchen and coffee bar and bookstore

Expanded Lobby

Music Room

New Preschool

Church Office Complex

Large Multi-Purpose Room

Video/Editing Room

Eight New Restrooms
